Ministries

Our purpose is to obey Jesus Christ by proclaiming His Gospel and making disciples from all nations.  By the teaching of Biblical truth, we will help disciples grow: in love for God through worship and prayer, in unity as a church through fellowship, and in concern for those who need Christ, through witness and service.

Opportunities to Study God’s Word / Teaching Biblical Faith

Believing in the importance of God's Word, we provide opportunities for people of all ages to study the Bible, learn what it says, and find ways to do apply Biblical principles in our lives.

On Sunday mornings we offer a unique opportunity to go deeper into God's Word than simply just hearing the sermon. Following the worship we offer Care Groups, small groups of ten to fifteen adults who pray and discuss the topic of that morning’s sermon. Care groups enable us to go deeper into God's Word and to minister to each other through the combined wisdom of the entire Body of Christ.

On Wednesday nights (September - May) we offer in-depth Bible study courses, such as Beth Moore studies or Precept classes to name a few. Please call the church office or look at the calendar for current offerings.

Special seminars are offered from time to time for intensive study. We have a quality library which provides Christian books, videos, and magazines to encourage spiritual growth. Our Root Cellar Tape Ministry provides audio tapes of our pastor’s teaching and special programs for you to take home. Recent sermons can be heard online.

Opportunities for Worship and Prayer

Varying styles of worship music can be a divisive thing in some churches, but at Community Church we believe that worship should be ultimately concerned with what God wants. Because we believe that He can be worshipped in many styles, our worship involves contemporary and traditional music led by a rotating team of worship leaders. Sunday services include a time of congregtional prayer.

Opportunities to Serve the Church Family

At Community Church, we believe that every member has an important role to play in the body of Christ.  We want to help you identify your gifts, experiences, desires, abilities, and personality so that you can find a place to minister where you are fulfilled and your abilities are maximized.  Some of the places where volunteers are always needed: nursery, children and youth classes, worship/music team, audio/visual team, ushers, homeless shelter outreach, special event planning and set-up, office, web presence, etc. The Stephen Ministry is also looking for volunteers who are willing to be trained.

Opportunities for Service to our Community

We realize that our church is a part of a community.  It is our strong belief that the greatest service that we can provide to another person is to explain to them how they can have peace with God.  For that reason, we work hard to find ways to meet the needs of those around us.  Our church members teach English to Spanish speakers who have moved into Union County.  Each month our people prepare and serve meals at the local Homeless Shelter and have provided toiletries and clothing to those in need. Our youth and adults have raked leaves for the elderly and infirmed. One of the Care Groups holds a monthly worship service for the residents at the nearby Brian Center. Other ways we have tried to reachout to the community: fall festivals for children, Christmas caroling to homes in nearby neighborhoods, youth soccer Sundays, summer VBS programs, Backyard Bible Clubs, and more.

Opportunities to Impact Our World

One of the strengths of Community Church is our commitment to world missions. Prayer for missionaries and world concerns are an important part of our Sunday morning worship services. We encourage our church members to pray, to give sacrificially to meet the financial needs of those who do go, and to be willing to serve through vocational and short-term assignments where they are needed.
