Bonfire Student Ministries
Opportunities for our Youth
We seek to provide quality youth ministry with solid Bible teaching, opportunities for service, and fun activities. Middle School and High School students receive personal attention from godly lay people who seek to form them spiritually and help them grow in the path of discipleship. Our theme for 2010 is Light the way - Ignite your world! We offer:
- a youth care group on Sunday morning
- a Wednesday evening youth group meeting for friendship, fun, worship, teaching and prayer.
- Coffee Cafe - a gathering of youth from area churches one Sunday evening each month
- a wide variety of special events such as ski trips, concerts, camping trips, sports activities, and service opportunities.
- opportunities for youth to serve as ushers, sing and play on the worship teams, participate in our wheelchair ministry, do nursery duty, visit a local nursing home, and assist with all kinds of special projects.
- Summer mission trips to places such as Bolivia, Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina and Honduras.
Bonus resource: check out this Powerpoint presentation, which lays a biblical foundation for God-honoring relationships with the opposite sex.
Wonderful Wednesdays!
Homework
In case you missed week 4, we talked about peace. We talked about how the biblical concept of peace is way more than merely an absence of conflict. Our homework is to choose a specific area in which you are not experiencing or practicing peace, or something that is keeping you from having inner peace, peaceful relationships, etc. This week commit to praying about that area and asking God to help you gain victory so the Holy Spirit's peace will be more abundant in your life.
September 8
This is week 5 of our intensive 10-week study on the fruit of the Spirit. That means we're going to be talking about patience. Our main focus will be on practical application, so get ready to put what you learn into action! Meal is at 6:00, followed by a great game, worship, and our Bible study.
Fabulous Fall Retreat
September 24-26
Come join us at Lake Wateree State Park for a fun weekend of real time with God, studying His word, team-building, campfires, singing, and fun outdoor activities (can you say night games?) Our theme this year is Time With God.

If you have questions or have registered and need to make ride arrangements, please contact Tom or Lily.

Video work in progress - More Beautiful You
Not to be outdone by Sherwood Baptist Church (makers of Facing the Giants and Fireproof), Bonfire Student Ministries have begun working on another fabulous video production. This time, we're doing More Beautiful You by Johnny Diaz. If you're not familiar with BSM's illustrious past performances in the realm of cinematic brilliance, check out our Hero video on Youtube. If you missed our major video shooting day on August 28 but still want to have a part in the flick, talk to Joylily or Alexa to see if they can work you in.
TrueU - "Is the Bible Reliable?"
We have completed the first set of 10 lessons in the TrueU series: Does God Exist? If you missed some (or all) of the lessons, the DVDs are now available in the youth library to be checked out. Please take advantage of this great tool that deals with the question of the scientific and philisophical case for the existence of God.
The second set of lessons will tackle the question of the reliability of the Bible as a source of ultimate Truth. The latest word is that the DVDs will be avaiable in late 2010. We'll plan on showing them as soon as we can them, so stay tuned...
New T-Shirts Coming Soon!
Check out the design ideas we have for our new T-shirts. So far, it sounds like the consensus is to go with black shirts. I just need to figure out where to have them printed. What does everyone think of Alexa's design for the back?

Here's what the BSM logo would look like on black shirts.
