From the Pastor
Tomorrow primary elections will be held across North Carolina. Here in Union County we have races for sheriff, county commissioner, school board, and United States Congress.
Did you know that a former member of Community Church’s youth group is running for County Commissioner? Travis Wilson, son of Larry and Patti Wilson from JAARS, has become a close friend of mine since I’ve worked at the library and I have one of his campaign signs in our front yard. Travis may be young, but he has some interesting ideas about equipping young people for the job market and revising the tax codes. He has my vote.
I have also had the opportunity this past week to meet and talk with Mark Harris, candidate for Congress. Unlike the past presidential election when we didn’t have the option to vote for people of integrity and values, Pat and I believe Mark Harris has both and we have voted for him to be our next Congressman.
Of course I’m forbidden by law to tell you how to vote, but I urge you to get out and vote on Tuesday, if you haven’t already. You can find your polling place at https://vt.ncsbe.gov/PPLkup/. Remember this is just a primary, and the final election will take place in November, but now is when you can help choose the candidates.
