From the Pastor

I recently learned that today, June 26, is Forgiveness Day in the United States. Some people confuse Forgiveness Day with Global Forgiveness Day on July 7 and International Forgiveness Day on August 6th. The plethora of Forgiveness Days shows that the issue is important.  The article went on to say that Forgiveness Day is a day to truly forgive someone else.

Someone has said, “We are most like beasts when we kill, most like men when we judge, most like God when we forgive.”  Alexander Pope echoed that thought when he said, “To err is human, to forgive divine.”

All of us have suffered slights, slander, and suffering at the hands of others. But ask yourself this: Is anything I’ve suffered worse than what Jesus went through for me?   I believe you know the answer.

Paul wrote, “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”  Colossians 3:13

That’s good advice on Forgiveness Day and every day. If there is someone who you need to forgive I hope you will do that as the Lord directed us all. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Think about that,
