Think about this
They call them imponderables, things that defy precise evaluation. You’ve heard them: How can something be new and improved because if it’s new it can’t have been there before, but if it’s improved it must have been there before? Why is it you can walk down a road, even if it goes up hill? Or, one of my favorites, where does weight go when people lose it?
We have some imponderables at Community Church as well. Here are just a few of them.
Will Pastor RB ever preach again? It’s true that I’ve not preached in three of the past four weeks, but that is about to change. I will be here and preaching the entire month of April, beginning with “I AM the Resurrection and the Life” this Sunday and completing the “I AM” series during the month.
Will we ever have Care Groups again? Yes! Last November the Elders decided to revamp our Community Outreach Groups and that has resulted in having many more COG meetings during February and March to help these new groups regain momentum. In addition the Missions Conference had a special event on one of the Care Groups Sundays. Starting on April 12 we will have Care Groups three weeks of the month and COGs on the final Sunday of each month.
Will we ever have another event like Rock Rest Fest? Over the past couple of months our COGs have re-organized and are planning many events both big and small to reach people. The Rock Rest COG and the Youth and Children COG met together on Sunday and began to plan for another possible Rock Rest Fest. More on that as it develops. Hopefully all of our COGs are about to put their plans into action. It’s not really outreach until we take it beyond our four walls.
Will we be able to restore support to our missionaries and staff soon? At our December business meeting the Elders promised to evaluate our giving every quarter to see if that were possible. While giving is now exceeding expenses, our summer giving is historically lower. The Elders will be conferring with Karen Whinna, our church Treasurer at their April meeting to see what, if anything, can be done at this time. We promise to keep you informed each step of the way.
If you have any other questions about Community Church or what goes on here, please feel free to talk with me or any of the Elders. The only imponderables here are the miraculous things God does. His ways are higher than ours. To Him be the glory.
Think about that,
RB
