Think About This
Last year about this time I wrote a Communique about funny church signs at Christmas. We all got a few chuckles from them. Well, I’m back with more this year and things have gotten a little testy out there. Here are (sadly) real church signs seen this year.
--Welcome semi-annual worshippers. We know you had to use Google maps to find your way back.
--Merry Christmas, whether YOU like it or not.
--The Nativity Story is still far less ridiculous than anything said during the Republican debates.
--Think you might be going to hell? Skip church on Christmas and make sure.
--If you’re one of the politically correct, we hope you sharpen the tip of your holiday tree and fall on it!
Ouch! Whatever happened to peace on earth and good will towards men? Whatever happened to loving your enemies and praying for those who persecute you? John warned us “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (I John 4:8)
Our nation is still hurting from a very bitter and divisive year of politics and there doesn’t appear to be any healing in sight. Signs like those above don’t make outreach any easier. This week make it your aim to show kindness and love to others. Jesus said, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35)
