Think About This
In just about one week we will have our Mega Sports Camp outreach. I applaud the work that Mark and Kimberly Kovach have done in carrying out the vision for this, and I know that there are countless others who have worked diligently in preparing for this event. As I write this week I want to remind you of two important things.
First, when Pat and I were with Campus Crusade for Christ we learned the definition of successful evangelism. “Successful evangelism is sharing Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God.” If we are faithful in walking in the Spirit and clearly presenting Christ, then whatever happens June 15-19 is up to God. He alone knows who will come and who will respond to the message of His grace through Jesus Christ.
Second, despite all of our efforts, God is the One who must ultimately attract people to the event, empower us with the courage and confidence to share Jesus with others, and draw people to Himself. We can’t make a person become a Christian no matter how much we might want to. The wise king Solomon reminds us:
Unless the LORD builds a house, its builders labor over it in vain; unless the LORD watches over a city, the watchman stays alert in vain. --Psalm 127:1
I’m excited to see what God is going to do in the next twelve days. Thank you for allowing yourself to be used by God in this outreach,
Pastor RB
